I made this artwork in October 2023. This marked the beginning of my artwork with fully fleshed-out backgrounds and meanings. 'Homesick' is a self-portrait. I want to tell my story of struggling with mental health, particularly my deteriorating sense of worth and separation anxiety. 

My artwork, "Homesick," is not only visually striking but also deeply poignant. The depiction of the girl (me) in the bathtub curled in a ball in a plain, dark bathroom with just a sliver of warm yellow light coming through conveys a powerful sense of isolation and vulnerability. The symbolism behind the piece, representing my struggle with mental health, is expressed through the composition and the stark contrast between darkness and light.

'Homesick' is not only a reflection of my own experiences but also a work that can resonate with others who have faced similar challenges.
